No, we’re not leaving all of the 70’s bra-less vibe behind, but in the luxury lingerie world, there is a revival of racy lacy romanticism when it comes down to undergarments for women.
We see flounces at the hips, teddies, and slips with lace paneling and ruffles.
Next to red and black, luxury lingerie in the ’80s existed of silks and lace in often soft, sexy pastels or in a multitude of other delicious colors.
Also, we see the return of garters, suspenders, and stockings.
~FEMININITY LIKE A BOSS~
Feministically, women entered the workforce on a big scale.
Women worked hard on getting equality for the past couple of decades and it bore fruit.
Wearing (big shoulder-padded) power suits and looking like the boss ladies they truly were was all part of it.
But underneath those quite formal suits, they hid beautiful, ultra-feminine sexy luxury lingerie, including stockings and suspenders for plenty of sex appeal.
~REMEMBER AEROBICS?~
In the eighties, we see that fitness is very trendy and we kinda recall the typical activewear outfits of that decade.
And Oh my! Those legwarmers!
We are talking about high-cut leg-lengthening sporty bodies, possibly over leggings or we went bare-legged to our fitness class…
Being fit and having incredibly beautiful toned legs were thé thing.
Gosh! We certainly loved Aerobics in the 1980s, with activewear outfits that were ever so shiny, bright, and mighty colorful.
And also outside your aerobics class, you would now start to see more sporty outfits as a type of outerwear.
~LUXURY LINGERIE AS OUTERWEAR~
High-haired, female pop icons, models, and vixens of the silver screen we all looked up to, would be most daring when it came to wearing luxury lingerie in the 1980s.
They would just very boldly wear luxury lingerie items as their outerwear as much as they could.
Look at the likes of Madonna and how she made this hype a stunning thing!
And you know what? We still ‘Get Into That Groove’ nowadays.
Do you notice the luxury lingerie-inspired outerwear around today and how we love showing off a designer bodice or bra-top from under our clothing?
